Dunja Karanović

Dunja Karanović (Belgrade, 1996) is a visual artist and freelance journalist. She is an MFA candidate at the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou, China, and an MA student at the Belgrade University of Arts UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Management. She finished her BA at the Belgrade Faculty of Fine Arts – University of Arts’ Painting department in 2019 in the class of prof. Dobrica Bisenić. She is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (AFAS/ULUS), and her works have been exhibited in two solo shows and many national and international exhibitions in China and the Balkans. She is a regular contributor of LICEULICE magazine in Serbia, and long-term part of GAIA-SCI Kosovo. Her work is focused on environmental protection, social issues, and community-based practices in the Balkans. In her artistic practice, she explores drawing, printmaking, cyanotype, and sculpture in the expanded field. She is passionate about gender issues, women’s artistic practices, embroidery, language, the small and the marginal.
