Sarah Bushra
Sarah Bushra is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily with a hybrid of text and images. She works with the body as a focal point of exploration and a metaphor to navigate Ethiopian and East African contemporary identity through curatorial practice and art writing. She’s interested in cultural management and as an artist and programmer facilitates the current movement towards increased visibility and impactful representation of Ethiopian culture in contemporary contexts. Sarah Bushra holds a BA in Visual Arts, Studio Practice, from New York University, Abu Dhabi, and has exhibited her works in Addis Ababa, Abu Dhabi, New York, and London. She now works as a curator with Contemporary Nights, an Addis based artists collective. Her latest show, Collage Broadly Defined, opened in Afriart Gallery, Kampala in March 2020.
